Chinese Lunar New Year of the Metal Tiger 2010

I have been lost upon distant shores...searching for treasures. And once again i am refreshed and renewed with this new year passing into existence. I have spent this long warm weekend recollecting the recent past and all the wondrous fancies i have come upon. I'd like to share a years worth of images rich with colors and textures, here is my Year of the Ox....enjoy.

Weekend in Oddville

I found this odd little doll. Got it for a quarter. Had to buy it because i felt drawn in by its eyes.
The clothes are not original, someone tried to hot glue them on. But on the back it has a date stamp from the 1930's as well as a coin slot. But no way of opening it. A real nest egg. Most interesting but not as much as this book i found the next day:

Complete with an artist's conception of the author and his spirit guide....it's turning out to be such an amazing book. Not only that, but it was also published in 1934. At that time it cost $2.00. Ironically, thats how much i paid for it in 2009. Weird.
Off to the swapmeet tomorrow!
Psssst....there was also a mini shop update with some vintage dolls. I'll be back with more tomorrow!
Happy hunting!

More goodies....way behind

Somewhere i hide in time. The holidays are around the corner. I'm off of "work" for an extended amount of time, thus shit is about to get done. I wonder sometimes how many times i've actually said that. But i know this time it's real.
Something wonderous happened in my life. Like a repetitive dream i loved so much. At any rate, it's put me at peace and has helped me to focus on goals long abandoned.

These are some lovely goodies from another swapmeet adventure around Halloween. Above, the most gorgeous pieces of stretch knit ever! Soon to be underware i hope!

To help me accomplish this, I scored a huge pile of fawn brown underware elastic. Yes it's in a giant knot. But thats why i got all of it for only $2! I'm sure there's over a hundred yards!

Of course, no hunting trip would be as fantastic if i didn't bring home more fabric! That gorgeous royal purple zodiac print is canvas weight! That just made my day! Hope you enjoy.
The S.S. shop will be updated with more craftiness in the next few days! Stay tuned for awesome vintage dolls, doll parts, fabric bundles, buttons and more!!!

May i be struck for being lazy

So here are the treasures i nabbed from the Ontario Open Air swapmeet i went to with Panda on Oct. 10th, i am ashamed to say, yes, it's been weeks!

I found this awesome wool red plaid, about 2 1/2 yards for only $2!

Are you obsessed with wooden models? I am. Even though i haven't built any yet (i'm saving them for a rainy day!) i can't help but collect. I have two bug models and then i found this one! Yes! It's a revolver, made out of wood! I have no idea if it will actually look like the picture above, but when i make it i'll show the world. And yes, i'm a nerd, i know.

So here's what we really drove all the way to Ontario for: cotton jersey material. Panda is obsessed and i'm afraid to say that after this trip, i too am now addicted. She's gotten me into making my own underware! I picked up black, tiedyed blue, soft green and some pinky off white wide lace trim. For a photo of the first pair i made, see my other project blog mammalchupie.blogspot.com

Alright. I have to get things done this morning, but there will be another update tonight. Both blog and shop update! Whoo hoo i'm getting it done. Stay tuned for the awesome fabric i picked up at the san berdo swap this last sunday!
Cheers! & Happy Treasure Hunting!
